1146 Korean Long is a productive midseason indeterminate heirloom-type tomato maturing approximately 85–90 days after transplanting. Slender, wispy-leaved plants grow approximately 5.2–5.9 feet tall and continue setting fruit over an extended harvest period. The exceptionally attractive fruits weigh approximately 6–14 oz and vary from elongated cylindrical and pepper-shaped tomatoes to large, stretched oxhearts. Each fruit tapers into a pronounced pointed tip that may curve slightly like a beak. Smooth skins ripen to luminous raspberry pink and pinkish red, surrounding dense, meaty flesh with relatively few seeds and very little excess gel. Its excellent flavor is sweet, rich, and full-bodied, making it equally valuable as a fresh slicer and a processing tomato. Train plants to one or two main stems and provide sturdy staking or trellising for the long, heavy fruits. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, salsa, freezing, roasting, sauces, purée, and tomato paste.
