Genuwine is an Heirloom Marriage tomato, selected for the best attributes of old and new. These fruits are smooth, unblemished, and anywhere from 10.5 to 11.5 ounces on average -- just the right size for slicing onto sandwiches and into salads! From its parent Brandywine it inherits its large size, slightly flattish shape, and deep pink cast among the red tones. From Costoluto Genovese comes the high acid content and juiciness of the fruit that creates the unmistakable 'real tomato tang' we all crave. And from crossing the two varieties, Genuwine gets better garden vigor and bigger yields.

 

Genuwine is an indeterminate tomato, meaning that its plants continue to set new fruit all season long. They are vining, growing up and sporting new tomatoes at the top of the plant, so you should keep them well staked and tied to hold up the big crops! Pick them all summer, and if you become overwhelmed by the size of the harvest, remember that this fruit is great for canning and freezing, too!

 

Start seeds indoors 5 to 6 weeks before the last frost date. Plant outdoors when danger of frost is past and night temperatures consistently remain above 55 degrees F. If an unexpected late frost is forecasted, protect young plants with plastic sheeting or other cover. Set plants 2½ feet apart.
