  • Striking Color: Creamy yellow petals with bold red center ring & pink edge streaks.
  • Easy Fall Planting: Blooms Dec–Apr, summer dormant—ideal for beginners.
  • Lucky Clover Foliage: Cute heart-shaped gray-green leaves year-round.
  • Abundant Blooms: Dense, compact growth perfect for containers/windowsills.
  • Low Maintenance: Full sun, soak & dry watering, drought-tolerant.

  • 🌼 English Version: Oxalis obtusa 'Red String'

Oxalis obtusa 'Red String' is a classic cultivar of the Oxalis obtusa (OB series) oxalis, commonly known as Red String Oxalis.

    ✨ Appearance Features

    • Flower Color: The petals have a soft, creamy or pale yellow base, with a striking red/magenta ring at the center. Some individuals also bear fine pink stripes along the petal edges—this is the origin of its name, "Red String".
    • Leaves: Typical trifoliate leaves, shaped like tiny hearts, with a fresh gray-green color and slightly fleshy texture—the iconic "four-leaf clover" form of oxalis.
    • Growth Habit: It is an autumn-planted oxalis. Bulbs are sown in autumn, blooming in winter and spring. During summer high temperatures, it enters dormancy: the above-ground parts wither, leaving only underground bulbs to survive the heat.

    🌱 Care Tips

    • Light: Thrives in full sun. More sunlight leads to more abundant blooms and more vibrant colors; insufficient light causes leggy growth and reduced flowering.
    • Watering: Follow the "soak and dry" method—water thoroughly when the soil is dry, and avoid waterlogging. During dormancy, stop watering completely to keep the bulbs dry.
    • Soil: Use loose, well-draining gritty mix (e.g., 1:1 peat moss + perlite) to promote bulb respiration and drainage.
    • Blooming Period: Typically from December to April of the following year. Individual flowers have a short lifespan, but the overall blooming period is long, and it readily forms a dense, full pot.
