Variety characteristics:
• W1365 Early Bush Chinese Oil Bean is a vigorous, early-producing bush snap bean selected for its broad, fleshy green pods and extended harvest period. Under favorable growing conditions, plants may begin producing approximately 40–50 days after sowing and can continue bearing for about 40 days when pods are harvested regularly. The smooth green pods grow to approximately 7.9 inches long and 0.8 inch wide, developing thick, tender walls with relatively little fiber when picked young.
The compact plants are normally grown without a trellis, making this selection suitable for space-efficient garden rows and field production. High temperatures, persistent humidity, rich soil, or excess nitrogen may encourage occasional runners, but this does not necessarily reduce pod production. Short stakes or light support can be added if plants become unusually vigorous.
Suitable for spring and fall planting, with summer production best reserved for regions with moderate temperatures. Supplier guidance recommends approximately 9.8 inches between planting hills and 19.7 inches between rows, with up to four plants per hill. Adjust spacing and planting density for local climate, soil fertility, and airflow. Harvest the pods while young and tender for cooking, steaming, stir-fries, braised dishes, and freezing.
