Variety characteristics:

• W1403 Hong Jingou is an early climbing oil bean variety producing broad, flattened pods with a creamy-yellow background and vivid rose-red streaks. The red coloration generally becomes stronger as the pods mature, sometimes leaving only narrow areas of yellow. Tender pods typically measure approximately 7 inches (18 cm) long and 0.6 inch (1.5 cm) wide. When harvested before the seeds become overly enlarged, the thick, fleshy pod walls develop a tender cooked texture with relatively little noticeable fiber. Under suitable warm-season conditions, the first harvest may begin approximately 50–55 days after emergence.
