    Overview

'Zhongyu 1870 F1' Carrot is an F1 hybrid variety developed by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) using a male sterile system. It is an extremely early-maturing variety, reaching maturity in approximately 90 days. This variety is characterized by its excellent bolt tolerance, making it highly adaptable for greenhouse cultivation in winter and spring, as well as open-field planting in summer and autumn. It yields slender, cylindrical roots with uniform orange-red color throughout, offering superb taste for fresh consumption.

    Key Features

    • Maturity: Extremely early-maturing, ready for harvest in about 90 days.

    • Root Characteristics: Slender cylindrical shape, approximately 18cm long and 3cm thick. Features deep orange-red skin, phloem, and xylem.

    • Taste & Use: Crisp texture and sweet flavor, perfect for fresh eating, juicing, and salads.

    • Yield: Potential yield of around 3,000 kg per mu.

    • Plant: Medium-strong top growth with dark green leaves and a small crown.

    Growing Instructions

    • Planting Method: Suitable for both flat beds and raised ridges with row sowing. Recommended row spacing of 20-25cm and plant spacing of about 3cm.

    • Seeding Rate: Approximately 300g of seeds per mu, aiming for 60,000 to 80,000 seedlings.

    • Water Management: Maintain consistent soil moisture. Avoid drought or alternating dry/wet conditions to minimize root splitting and forking.

    • Disease & Pest Management: Monitor and prevent Black Spot, Black Rot, Diamondback Moth, and Tobacco Cutworm throughout the growth cycle. Note susceptibility to root-knot nematode; avoid planting in high-risk areas.

    • Harvest: Timely harvest is recommended for optimal quality.
