Fire Phoenix F1 Silver Melon Seeds - Cucumis melo var. makuwa Large Blossom End Sweet Crisp Fruit

Overview

Fire Phoenix F1 (Cucumis melo var. makuwa) is a medium-late maturing F1 hybrid melon variety. It has medium vigour, is easy to manage, and has strong disease resistance, with healthy and stable plants. It is suitable for protected cultivation as well as open field cultivation in suitable climates.

The fruits are elongated oval in shape, approximately 20cm in length and 10-12cm in diameter, with a single fruit weight of 600-800g, uniform and consistent in size. The rind is silver-white, glossy and bright with a natural sheen, and features a large, prominent navel, giving it a highly distinctive appearance.

The flesh has a fine texture and a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel, with a sugar content of 13-14° Brix – moderately sweet, refreshing and not cloying. The most outstanding feature is its rich, pure fragrant aroma, which is long-lasting and leaves a lingering fragrance in the mouth after eating.

Key Features

• Silver-white glossy rind – Fruit surface is silver-white with natural lustre, large navel, attractive and novel appearance.

• Rich fragrant aroma – Flesh emits a pure and intense fragrance, which is the most distinctive characteristic of this melon.

• Fine, crisp and sweet flesh – Flesh is tender and crispy, refreshing on the palate, with 13-14° Brix sugar content, sweet but not cloying.

• Uniform and moderate fruit shape – Fruit length 20cm, diameter 10-12cm, single fruit weight 600-800g, excellent marketable quality.

• Medium-late maturing disease-tolerant variety – Medium vigour, strong disease resistance, stable yield, labour-saving cultivation.

Cultivation Guidelines

• Suitable environment – Suitable for protected cultivation (greenhouses and plastic tunnels). Can also be grown in open fields in regions with favourable climates.

• Soil selection – Choose deep, fertile, well-drained sandy loam or loam soil with rich organic matter content.

• Light requirements – Full sun exposure is required to promote sugar accumulation and flavour development.

• Water management – Maintain consistent soil moisture during fruit development and expansion. Reduce watering 7-10 days before harvest to help increase sugar content and fragrance concentration.

• Timely harvesting – Harvest when the rind displays a silver-white lustre and the navel becomes slightly soft. At this time, the aroma and eating quality are at their best.

Why Choose Fire Phoenix F1 Silver Melon?

• Outstanding flavour – The combination of fine, crisp and sweet flesh with a pure and rich fragrant aroma offers a rich flavour profile that is highly appreciated by consumers.

• Unique appearance – The silver-white glossy rind and large navel distinguish it from common yellow or green-skinned melons in the market, giving it high recognition.

• Stable quality – As a medium-late maturing variety, it has sufficient time to accumulate sugars and aromatic compounds, resulting in a mellow, well-developed flavour and consistent quality.

• Labour-saving management – Medium vigour and strong disease resistance mean less pruning work and lower disease risks, making it suitable for growers of all experience levels.

• Market recognition – Uniform fruit shape, attractive appearance and distinctive flavour are well received in fresh fruit markets and premium fruit channels, with high repeat purchase rates.
